Reset- Day 1

Bah! Ive just endured two weeks of body chaos. Hot on the heels of my severe abdominal pain I had a tooth abcess which rivaled that pain and had to go have emergency dental surgery done. Im watching my money slide into the drain quick....all over pain and health issues.
Today I finally got to see my doctor in regards to the mysterious abdominal pains.
He wanted to do a sonogram but since I don't have insurance or much money I can't. So his sage and cost effective advice was....get back on birth control pills to stop the ovulation and therefore stop the pain.
His examination found a small cyst on my right ovary. Apparently this kind of cyst is benign and small. He didn't feel any swelling or other problematic things ..like a large growth or anything like that.
When the cyst fills with fluid- that is when it hurts and hurts for two weeks until the fluid is dispersed.
So my goal now is to eat to shrink the cyst...hopefully it will die and go away.
Doctor doesn't think I have PCOS by the simple reason I am still having "normal" periods.....ew, girl stuff!
My thoughts on this....all very well and good that the birth control will stop the pain. It stopped it before. But it is a MASK for the real problem....why do I have a cyst in the first place and how do I get rid of it, not hide it?  So dietary changes are the next route and lots of exercise and less stressing. Stressing makes everything worse.
So in a nutshell, nothing I didn't already know but the term "PCOS" doesnt apply to me....right now....supposedly. This thing takes a lot of effort and time (and money) to get properly diagnosed. For now Im going on the knowledge that I have one corpus luteum cyst on my right ovary and I need to revamp my diet and get on stupid birth control pills again.
Sigh.
Wish me luck.

Day 2

Day 2 and let me say- I hope its better than Day 1.
Lowering your carb intake right away made for headaches, grouchiness and general unfun. Hopefully as my body gets used to it I will not be so grumpy. A call to the doctors office revealed that he is off all week. Of course. That IS my luck. So appointment set for Monday next week and until then biding my time, popping Naproxen like it's going out of style and trying to stick to PCOS friendly food.
I am having to drink at least 2 liters of water a day...but that is easy since I work in a hot unairconditioned studio right now and water is my BFF.
Tuna on the menu today with salad and no bread. Im eating my slice of whole grain toast with peanut butter protein and oats and berries for breakfast. Apparently its best to get your biggest meal first thing in the morning to help you maintain your energy level through the day and not go nuts at dinner where the pounds will just sleep with you overnight. Thats bad.
Ok, it's Tuesday...lets do this thing!

DAY 1

Im considering today DAY 1 of new PCOS friendly eating. I had a cup of coffee out of habit and caffeine is a bad trigger for PCOS so SLAP MY WRIST and call me a goof. I did. Coffee...I am going to miss you something fierce.
No breakfast cereal so it's OATS and QUINOA and EGGS and such. Today is oats with raspberries, blueberries, almonds and 1/2 a banana. I already do almond milk so thats nothing new. Also- CINNAMON....cinnamon is supposed to be good for PCOS. It doesnt need sugar cause the banana is a natural sweet when heated.
Lunch will be curried lentils, a small piece of white chicken and a leafy green salad w/ red bell peppers.
I'm also drinking my Female Toner Tea from traditional Medicinals which has raspberry and licorice root in it- both supposed to be excellent for PCOS.
Snack will be yogurt.
Are we having fun yet? Logging every single thing we eat every day?
HOORAY!
Yes, Im bitter.

Great link, bon appetit!

PCOS? ENDO? SOMETHING WORSE?

I started this blog to work through some issues I'm having in the health department. It takes my mind off the pain and helps me feel proactive if I am helping others get informed and this is basically just going to be a DROP site for links, recipes, info and resources on help if you are suffering from PCOS.
I should state- I have NOT been diagnosed with PCOS officially but all symptoms point to this and Im about to get my tests done finally. I also possibly have ENDO and am in SEVERE pain which has been a problem for years. I was on prescription birth control to mask the symptoms and help with the pain and it did both of those things for awhile. The pain was nonexistent  on my prescription Lybrel. But the PCOS symptoms were becoming more severe and that is when I decided to stop masking the symptoms and try to find out how to heal myself without drugs or pharmaceuticals. This has been a rollercoaster ride and a mystery for me and I know I'm not alone.
So here we go, tomorrow Im calling the doc to get tests done finally (I know its going to wipe out what little money I have saved but I can't risk this being something more severe like endometrial cancer or something) but today I blog while I lie in bed with twinges of pain that nothing helps.
I am a freelance artist with no insurance and an illness like this just plain sucks.
